This list contains tools available for integration at our university. Some tools are enabled by default in your course navigation, while others may need to be enabled in your course settings. To learn more about a specific tool or request a new one, please contact the C&IT Helpdesk.
Add-on tools can expand the capabilities of Canvas and enrich your students' learning experience with these integrated add-on tools. These applications, also known as Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) integrations, are designed to streamline workflows, promote student engagement, and facilitate innovative teaching.
Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is a standard developed by 1EdTech formerly known as IMS Global Learning Consortium at the time of creation. It enables seamless integration between learning systems and external systems.[1] In its current version, v1.3, this is done using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JSON Web Tokens. For example, a Learning Management System (LMS) may use LTI to host course content and tools provided by external or third-party systems on a website without requiring a learner to log in separately on the external systems. The LTI will also share learner information and the learning context shared by the LMS with the external systems.
A software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, automation, and delivery of educational courses, training programs, materials or learning and development programs.[1] The learning management system concept emerged directly from e-Learning. Learning management systems make up the largest segment of the learning system market. The first introduction of the LMS was in the late 1990s.[2] LMSs have been adopted by almost all higher education institutions in the English-speaking world.[3] Learning management systems have faced a massive growth in usage due to the emphasis on remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.[4]
